What is I Bike Budapest?
I Bike Budapest is a large-scale annual cycling event that takes over the streets of the Hungarian capital to promote bike commuting and emphasize the importance of sustainable urban mobility.
But it’s more than just a ride it’s a powerful, visual demonstration. Tens of thousands of cyclists flood the city streets to show just how many people already choose bikes as their daily mode of transportation. The message is clear: Budapest should be a bike-friendly city where people of all ages can ride safely.

This year’s route is more scenic than ever. The ride kicks off from Városháza Park, crosses the Erzsébet Bridge, rolls along Lánchíd Street, through Clark Ádám Square and the Tunnel, continues on Attila Street, then loops back over the bridge to Jane Haining Quay.
From there, it winds through Széchenyi Square, József Attila Street, and the iconic Andrássy Avenue all the way to Heroes’ Square.
The final stretch leads down Dózsa György Street and Népfürdő Street to the Great Meadow on Margaret Island, where the ride ends with a celebratory bike lift and a community cool-down.
This isn’t a race it’s a festival on wheels. With music, bells, laughter, and thousands of cyclists, it’s a truly unforgettable experience. Kids, families, e-bikers, everyday commuters — everyone is welcome.
To ensure safety, roads along the route will be closed and secured by police and volunteers.
